Laura Leticia is the Founder and Program Director of Headway Social Services. She is a Positive Psychology Practitioner and an Advanced Certified Life Coach with a background deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, emergency crisis response, and culturally responsive interventions for youth and families. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Psychology from Governors State University and an Associate of Science in Psychology from Moraine Valley College.

Laura’s extensive professional training includes certifications in hearing sciences, behavioral and emotional regulation, child safety and abuse prevention, crisis de-escalation, and emotionally responsive coaching strategies. She has also completed multiple FEMA-led programs in disaster response, emergency preparedness, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the National Response Framework. These credentials reflect her commitment to bringing structure, emotional safety, and resilience-building to the individuals and families she supports. Laura has served as an Emergency Disaster Case Manager through agencies funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), providing trauma-informed care and reunification services to unaccompanied minors and vulnerable populations impacted by crisis, abuse, and displacement. Her leadership spans roles as a certified case manager, shelter operations, and as an Assistant Director for foster care programs serving children under ORR protection.

At Headway, she integrates operational expertise with a compassionate, person-centered approach. She partners with individuals, families, organizations, and community agencies to promote emotional healing, support life transitions, and inspire growth. Through her signature Human Flourishing Formations, Laura blends coaching and psychoeducational strategies to increase emotional awareness, strengthen life skills, and cultivate lasting transformation. Fluent in English and Spanish, Laura values cultural sensitivity and celebrates diversity across both corporate and community spaces. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, participating in her church’s prayer and newcomer ministries, staying active, and taking long walks with her beloved Labradoodle.

Headway Social Services is committed to expanding equitable access to trauma-informed coaching, emotional wellness education, and culturally responsive care. We serve individuals, families, and underserved communities and vulnerable populations through programs designed to build resilience, foster personal well-being, and create sustainable social impact. With a focus on empowerment, cross-sector collaboration, and real-life application, we work to close gaps in care and offer inclusive pathways to growth and flourishing. Our services include one-on-one and group coaching, customized trainings, and seminars that support motivation, cooperation, and meaningful change in both personal and professional settings.

A Journey of Purpose

Our Story

Headway Social Services was established in 2018 with a clear mission to support individuals, families, and communities in building meaningful lives rooted in healing, growth and human flourishing. In its early stages, Headway was a deeply personal initiative founded on values of mindful living, intentional change, self-determination and transformation. While the organization remained modest in its reach, the vision behind it was always expansive. During this time, our founder, Laura Curiel worked independently alongside social service agencies, offering trauma-informed support, life skills coaching, and community-based interventions. These roles were not separate from the mission of Headway they were an extension of it. Her work across diverse populations, systems, and crisis-response environments helped refine the coaching strategies, psychoeducational tools, and human-centered frameworks that now form the heart of our services.

Bridging Passion with Practice

From unaccompanied youth in national care systems to families navigating complex transitions, Laura's frontline work revealed something powerful, healing and personal growth happen not just through systems but through relationships rooted in reflection, direction and sustainable growth. With this insight, and a renewed sense of purpose, she returned to Headway with full commitment ready to serve not just on the front lines, but at the heart of transformational change.
